Ottawa is home to some remarkable people who participate in competitive sport, undeterred by their physical challenges and who courageously overcome these limitations in remarkable fashion. One such group is the Ottawa Blind Bowling Club. Active since 1948, the Ottawa Blind Bowling Club offers a networking, social and challenging sport program for people with visual impairment. The Club offers a fun competitive bowling experience to 15 currently registered Ottawa's blind bowlers' who are assisted by sighted volunteers acting as coaches, score keepers, drivers and cheerleaders.
