Michigan Disability Rights Coalition cultivates disability pride and strengthens the disability movement by recognizing disability as a natural and beautiful part of human diversity while collaborating to dismantle all forms of oppression.
Michigan Disability Rights Coalition is hosting a conversation on accessing disability resources and services in the Dearborn area.
About this Event
People with disabilities in Muslim communities encounter many barriers and challenges accessing mainstream disability services and resources. Stigma, structural inequalities, lack of cultural competency and awareness of local disability services are among the issues that create barriers to accessing disability services in the Muslim communities. Join us in this conversation to discuss what creates barriers to accessing disability resources as well as what disability resources and services are available for the disability community in the Dearborn area.
Distinguished Speaker:
Khodr Farhat is an activist, public speaker, and advocate for individuals with disabilities. Khodr has a history of involvement in advocacy work at local, state, and national levels advocating for people with disabilities, quality education, and equity.
