6th Annual Metro Parks' disABILITIES Program Gala

Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 5 PM - 8:30 PM CDT

If you want to make a difference in the world, then you must be different from the world. That is exactly what is happening at Metro Parks disABILITIES Programs’ Gala featuring a “Songs Through Sign” performance. On Saturday, October 27th, MPDP participants will take the stage at the Father Ryan High School Theater. This show has two purposes: (1) to showcase the talents and abilities of adults with disabilities and (2) to raise money to provide expanded programming for individuals with Intellectual & Developmental disABILITIES. At this event, there will be sign language, magic, dancing, bucket drumming and even a special appearance by MPDP’s Cheerleaders.

In addition to the show, there will be dinner and a silent auction. All of the proceeds from this event will go towards programming for the Metro Parks’ disABILITIES Programs.

Metro Parks disABILITIES Programs are a collection of programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The largest program, a day program for adults, operates Monday-Thursday from 9:00-3:00. In the program, they participate in various activities ranging from training for sports, arts & crafts, music, drama, fitness classes, and much more. This program is also associated with national programs such as Best Buddies and Special Olympics. This program was not only designed to provide individuals with disabilities with a way of life but also a way to live out their dreams.
