The IBIA World Congress is the largest gathering of international professionals working in the field of brain injury.

OVERVIEW

The International Brain Injury Association’s World Congress on Brain Injury is the largest gathering of international professionals working in the field of brain injury (traumatic and acquired, including stroke).

The next World Congress will take place March 13 – March 16, 2019, in Toronto, Canada. Over 1200 international delegates attended the World Congress when it was last held in the United States in 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and we expect the 2019 Congress to be larger still!

WHO ATTENDS THE WORLD CONGRESS?

Delegates to the World Congress on Brain Injury are comprised of rehabilitation physicians, neurologists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, psychologists, basic/translational scientists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, nurses, case managers, advocates and all other professionals involved in the research or treatment of brain injury and/or stroke.

OUTSTANDING SCIENCE AND EDUCATION

As the seminal event in brain injury, the Congress features an outstanding faculty of internationally recognized speakers delivering platform lectures, panels and workshops. State of the art research is presented dealing with every aspect of brain injury from coma to community. The Congress provides didactic opportunities for researchers and clinicians interested in advancing their knowledge in brain injury science, medicine and care.

In addition to the invited lectures and panels, IBIA welcomes the submission of papers for consideration as oral or poster presentations.  Abstracts will be reviewed by the International Planning Committee and papers accepted for presentation will be published in a supplemental issue of IBIA’s official journal, Brain Injury. The deadline for submitting an abstract is November 19, 2018.

UNPARALLELED NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES

The World Congress on Brain Injury provides a unique opportunity for establishing collegial relationships with other international professionals focused on the care of persons with brain injury and/or the science of brain injury research.

The Congress provides an unparalleled platform to share scientific results, explore new treatment paradigms, develop new friendships and form new collaborations.

CONGRESS LOCATION

The Congress will be superbly located at the Sheraton Centre Hotel in the heart of Downtown Toronto, only steps away from to the city’s top attractions.

Toronto is home to some 2.7 million people, and is a vibrant, dynamic city filled with distinct neighborhoods. There’s the cobblestoned and car-less Distillery District – a jigsaw of industrial warehouses filled with galleries, fashion designers and artisanal foodie haunts. Off Dundas Street West you’ll find the colourful bustle and flavour of Chinatown, while the two-kilometre strip that runs along Queen West between Bathurst St and Gladstone Ave has become home to Toronto’s young creatives and some 300 galleries, design houses, record stores, independent coffee shops, restaurants and boutique hotels.

The Scientific Leadership and the International Planning Committee look forward to welcoming you in Toronto for this unique event!
