According to Psychology Today "Chronic pain triggers changes in brain structure that are linked to depression, anxiety, and impaired cognitive function." Catherine Bushnell, PhD, a scientific director of the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) at the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) where she oversees a program on the brain’s role in perceiving, modifying, and managing pain summed up her findings saying,"Practicing yoga has the opposite effect on the brain and can relieve chronic pain."

If you consider yourself in a sedentary group or your physical fitness activity is limited because of various diseases, physical conditions, disabilities, weight challenges, inflexibility, or you just cannot get on the floor for whatever reason; you can benefit from a practice of yoga on a chair. This integrative class allows those who cannot get on the floor for whatever reason to participate. (Or perhaps you simply need for balance or to assist you up and down off the floor.)

No prior yoga experience necessary.

Studio has mats, chairs and other yoga props available for our use for free.
**Please note that the studio is located on the 2nd floor and requires the abililty to use stairs. There are handrails on both sides.
