Film Screening: "Swim Team"
Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 1 PM - 3 PM PDT

Join San Mateo Public Library and the Center for Independence of Individuals with Disabilities for the fourth film in our summer film series.

Films are free and open to all ages. Screenings will be held in the Main Library's Oak Room and will be followed by a short discussion and light refreshments.

Swim Team follows the lives of three diverse young men who fall on the autism spectrum. They join a swim team for children with developmental disabilities, developed by parents of an autistic child. On the team, they find inclusion, independence, and space to achieve their goals. The eye-opening film chronicles the swim team's hard work and dedication to make life work in and out of the swimming pool. This screening is a collaboration with the award-winning documentary series POV (www.pbs.org/pov).
