Every Body: Disability Encounter Speaker Series

The final installment of our popular first-person disability encounter speaker series which presents interdisciplinary, first-person narratives that challenge traditional notions of diagnosis and disability by engaging illness/disability as part our identity and culture as humans: complex, intersectional and multi-faceted.

10.30 WEDNESDAY. Doug Bucci: Thinking Organically in a Digital World

6:30-7:30 pm. Dually Presented in MERB 319D and Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Architecture 104

This lecture explores the personal narrative of jewelry designer/educator Doug Bucci and how his own illness and artistic research and expression have informed each other. His work utilizes digital processes to explore and display biological systems and the effect of disease on the body. Dr. Barbara Simon joins him in conversation providing her first-hand perspectives as an endocrinologist and family member. This lecture will be hosted in 2 locations simultaneously: 319DMERB@LKSOM and 104Architecture@Tyler.
