This training will teach staff how to prevent a crisis utilizing positive behavior intervention methods. The presentation will include a discussion on challenging behaviors and how staff can respond to help deescalate the situation. This course is for those staff that do not require full SCIP-R certification and staff who provides services in non-certified settings. It does not include physical interventions but instead focuses on the positive behavior intervention techniques that staff can implement to prevent crises.
Objectives
• To learn proactive and positive behavior interventions to best support a person with Developmental Disabilities.
• To recognize and understand challenging behaviors.
• To learn methods on how to prevent escalation of behaviors and provide crisis intervention.
